CPTEN Consulting works with nonprofits and small businesses to win grants, sharpen their communications, and operate more effectively. Since 2024, our clients have secured more than $100 million in competitive funding.
Grants are a major part of what we do. They're not the whole picture. We also help organizations develop their messaging, draft policy and compliance documents, conduct research that informs how programs are designed and funded, and plan for growth. We help organizations do their work better and present that work in a way that lands, whether the audience is a funder, a board, a regulator, or the public.
Behind all of it is nearly two decades of experience in government, policy, and public communications. We know what competitive proposals look like because we've written them and won them.
Schedule a consultationCPTEN Consulting was founded in 2020 by Christopher DeCicco and became a full-time operation in 2024.
Chris spent nearly two decades in New York City government. He served as Counselor to Staten Island Borough President James Oddo, advising on initiatives that cut across healthcare, economic development, education, and public services. He later served as Communications Advisor and Counsel to City Council Minority Leader Steven Matteo, leading strategy and messaging for public initiatives. Earlier in his career, he spent close to a decade in Minority Leader Oddo's Council office as Communications Director, Legislative Director, and Counsel, running legislative strategy and media relations.
That time in government taught him how initiatives get built from the inside, how policy moves from an idea to something real, and what it actually takes to communicate across agencies and elected offices. It's a perspective that shows up in everything he does now.
Chris spent three years at Deloitte's Risk and Financial Advisory practice, leading the CEO Communications team for roughly 22,000 employees across the United States, India, and Israel. He also co-founded a fitness business on Staten Island, grew it, and sold it. He's run political campaigns locally. All of that reinforced the same lesson: clear communication under pressure is the skill that makes everything else work.
He holds a J.D. from New York Law School.
Since 2024, Chris has secured more than $100 million in grants across multiple organizations.
CPTEN Consulting works with nonprofits and small businesses on funding, strategy, communications, research, and operations. Every engagement is scoped to what your organization actually needs.
We handle every stage of the grant process: identifying opportunities, developing the narrative, assembling the application, and submitting it. We've won grants at the city, state, federal, and private levels. Some clients bring us in for a single proposal. Others work with us across their full funding calendar. We fit the engagement to the work.
How your organization talks about itself matters. We develop messaging, prepare materials for leadership, and help you reach the right audiences. This work draws on years of experience in government communications, corporate advisory, and public affairs.
Good proposals and strong programs start with good information. We conduct community-level research, analyze demographic and program data, and help organizations build the case for what they're doing and why it deserves funding. We also prepare reports and presentations for leadership, boards, and external partners.
We draft and review policies, compliance documents, and operational procedures. We help leadership teams plan ahead and prepare for audits, funder reviews, and internal transitions.
You've written the grant. The deadline is close. You want someone who has written and won grants at every level to read yours before you submit. Our Final Eyes review gives you a marked-up document with detailed comments and a short memo identifying the changes that matter most. This service is for organizations that write their own grants and want an expert read before the deadline.
The best way to get started is a conversation. Schedule a 30-minute introductory consultation and we'll discuss what your organization needs and how we can help.
